About DeAnna

I am a licensed counselor with over 20 years of experience providing therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and adults as a licensed school counselor, licensed special educator, academic therapist, and Certified Recreational therapist. I have a Master's in Counseling and a Bachelor's in Recreational Therapy. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and I am trained in Brainspotting (BSP). Brainspotting is a talk therapy that helps uncover a client's unprocessed traumas through fixed eye positions that link to an area of the mind that retains thoughts and emotions related to trauma.
As a school counselor, I worked with issues such as anxiety, depression, divorce, blended families, death & grief, sexual identity, peer isolation & harassment, physical, emotional & sexual abuse. I also have experience as a
multi-cultural counselor having served as a counselor and learning specialist in an
international school in Seoul, South Korea.
I have extensive experience working with people with learning differences and their families, including dyslexia, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and executive functioning issues. I provide academic therapy and counseling associated with Individual Education Plans (IEP's) and 504 plans.

Lindamood-Bell Program
The Lindamood-Bell program is an approach that is designed to address the learning challenges of individuals who have difficulty with reading, spelling and who have other learning differences. It is a highly structured, multi-sensory program that helps individuals tap into all of their senses to make connections between sounds, letters, and words. Instruction is delivered one-on-one and each individual progresses at his or her own pace. In the Lindamood-Bell approach, the skills involved in learning to read and spell and become fluent in these processes are broken down into concrete skills. Fluency leads to improved comprehension. To aid in conceptual understanding, imagery skills are also incorporated to help individuals find meaning and make connections between
the written word and what they have read.
